Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the habitus of people with schizophrenia and to identify the social order that disrupts their living space. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, a phenomenological approach was taken, and 14 people with schizophrenia residing in the community were interviewed. As a result of the analysis, a total of 559 meaningful sentences, 12 composed meanings, 6 sub-themes, and 3 essential themes were derived. The essential themes were divided into ¡´¡®like a schizophrenic¡¯ alienated from humans¡¯¡µ, ¡´facing the everyday world with a tendency to atrophy and fear¡µ, and ¡´a ¡®dead-beat existence¡¯ that is completed from social and cultural structures¡µ. Although the study participants wanted to live as human beings in the face of discrimination and stigma, a tendency toward isolation due to social withdrawal and frustration was accumulated. This has resulted in the person with schizophrenia confining their entire daily life within a solid frame of ¡®patient-likeness¡¯. Based on this, the habitus and disruption of living space of people with schizophrenia living in the community were discussed.
